With 40,000 cars passing by Greater Minnesota Credit Union’s (GMCU) new Elk River facility every day, portraying a professional and modern image was a top priority for this growing financial organization.

Steve Ahlness, CEO/President of GMCU, is excited to see the new facility become a place where members can call their own and give their staff the space they need to serve the needs of our ever expanding membership in the Elk River area. Last December marked Steve’s 30th year at the Credit Union.

GMCU had been looking for a new building or building site in Elk River for the past five to seven years. They wanted to show a real commitment to Elk River’s current and potential members with room to grow in this thriving community. Ahlness explained, “We knew we had to make the new building look professional and appealing and bring in the newest technology.”
“I have been a Marco customer since
1979. My satisfaction with Marco’s
products has always been high, but their
attitude toward service is what has kept
me 100% loyal to this outstanding
company.”

The Solution
To help make that happen, Ahlness relied on Marco — the partner GMCU has shared a relationship with for the last 30 years. He said, “I have been a Marco customer since 1979. My satisfaction with Marco’s products has always been high, but their attitude toward service is what has kept me 100% loyal to this outstanding company.”
“Marco’s staff goes way
beyond what you expect
from a furniture company.
They are all very
committed to taking care
of their customers’
needs.”

Marco furnished GMCU with new desks and credenzas for their private offices, custom tables for their conference room and community room, and a variety of seating options in fabrics that compliment their modern décor.

Marco’s video team equipped their facility with the newest technology in presentation equipment. The lobby includes two large flat panel screens with digital signage software that allows them to update information for their members from any of their locations through a Web browser. Members can view daily interest rates, community events, special promotions, and other important information.

The new facility also includes a state-of-the-art community room. GMCU donates the use of its community room to organizations that would like to reserve the space for meetings and community events. Marco had the tables for the room custom-made to give the space a unique and rich look, tying in all of the wood and silver-plated finishings featured inside and outside of the building. Marco equipped the room with a multimedia projector and automatic projection screen for presentations. A custom-made media cart with a built-in podium is positioned at the front of the room and includes a portable Crestron touch panel which controls all of the equipment, sound, and lighting in the room.

A variety of comfortable guest chairs are located throughout the lobby area including a sitting area when you first enter building. This area is also equipped with a large panel digital signage screen that displays information and can also be used as an area where kids can watch cartoons while they wait. Their offices are furnished with bullnose desks and credenzas in a light wood finish, complimented with side chairs in a dark cherry finish and warm fabric. Their large conference room table was custom-made to match the tables in their community room. Adjustable seating with casters surround the table.

Ahlness worked with Mark Sauerer (sales representative), Dawn Dvorak (workplace designer), and Allen Theisen (installation coordinator) for all of the office furnishings. He worked with Jeremy Kirt from Marco for the audio/video equipment. Ahlness said, “Marco’s staff goes way beyond what you expect from a furniture company. They are all very committed to taking care of their customers’ needs, making sure we get high quality service and products for our investment.”
